Will the top seeds run the table? How long can a bottom seed survive and advance? The first round of No Bad Ideas March Mayhem drew some devoted design freaks and one surprise snapback.
The third annual running of the game debuted under a new Instagram format this year. As a reminder, 16 potential new headwear styles are squaring off against each other in a winner-take-all tournament—your likes determine which ones survive and advance. The last hat standing will become the next design-driven item in our collection and join past March Mayhem winners Simba Snapback (aka the Rasta Lion hat) and Zoki Snapback (rocking that bonsai Buddhist aesthetic).
With some sweet college basketball conference tournaments providing background, the first round of March Mayhem produced close calls, upset wins and some straight up domination.
In a matchup evenly split until the end, the Noreaga beat the Lotus by one like at the conclusion of the first round Saturday night. “billabarrett” on Instagram was one of the final likes for the Noreaga after ordering a favorite from our current collection.
|In the same region rocking boldly colored Dutch wax fabric, the Alika Strapback stomped the Harvest Snapback by 25 likes. Not one, not two, but three i’s were needed by Instagram’s “g_granite” to describe how siiick this hat is!|
Two matchups in particular made people tap twice: in the Universal Groove Region, the #1 seeded Andromeda Snapback gained the most likes of any hat in round 1, beating the Pax Snapback (5th overall in first round likes); and the #4 seeded Draco Snapback used a similar style to upset the top seeded Geoprismic Snapback in the Galactic Zen Region.
No Bad Ideas March Mayhem round 2 begins Tuesday March 15. Keep that hat love coming and help us find the next design that will win it all.
